Tide and Weather
What are tides? Tides are created because the Earth and the moon are attracted to each other, just like how magnets are attracted to each other. The Moon tries to pull at anything on the Earth to bring it closer. But, the Earth is able to hold onto everything except the water
There are quite a few types of tides such as, High tide, Low tide, spring tide, Neap tide these tides can have major effects on the evironments such as:
Mangroves
Coral Reef
Sandy Shore
Open Sore
And Rocky Shore
Mangroves: For mangroves the tides have major effects on the marine life and the environment.
For example: The Light Blue Soldier Crab relies on low tides because it is the only time when there can go and search for food and get from one place to another, because when it goes high tide they are forced to burrow into the mud and wait until the next low tide.
The Weather can effect the mangroves such as, Heavy Rain, this can cause the environment to still be flooded with water even though it is low tide, this can have an effect on so many marine life.
Coral Reef: Tides on coral reef such has effects on its environment, such as low tide, because when low tide comes sometimes waves can be formed and there for breaking and destroying the reefs surface. It also has an effect on marine life such as Sharks, when low tide comes it is usually to shallow for sharks to go ontop of so fish benefit from low tides but when high tides comes the sharks benefit because now they can search for food.
The Weather such as a cyclone can create massive waves near the coral reef and destroy the home of marine life that live there.
Sandy Shore: Tides such as a spring tide can really effect the sandy shore because with the spring tide clashing against the shore and its banks, it is created erosion in the sand which can mean that the beaches can become shorter and have less sand on them. For marnine life on the other hand, tides are like there best friend, because with the tides they can feed and migrate to other place with the tide.
Weather effects the sandy shore through strong winds and big surf generated by cyclones, these cyclone waves can destroy banks, and sandy shores by dragging all a lot of sand off the beaches which can distrurb marine life and they way they live.
Open Shore: Tides in the open shore are very good for animals that with to migrate to different places fast because with the changing tides, they creat currents in the water which can carry them for kilometers. For marine life it means that some animals will be able to travel places faster.
Rocky Shore: For Rocky shore, low tide can very very dangerous for marine life such as crabs because they are more vulnerable to prey such as birds. But when high tides comes they are able to get into the water and look for food such as plankton. For the Rocky environment, the tides are eroding the rocks away little bit at a time, so pretty much the tides are destroying the rocky shores.
Rocky Shores only has two enemys, the wind and the waves, these two elements erode the rocky shore away and break down rocks and environements for marine life.
